IBM/Ameriprise
Principal Project Manager (Contract)
- Responsible for migration of main Ameriprise web site to a Vignette portal and content management
infrastructure. Included the creation of a n-tier, highly secure Websphere topology to support millions of user hits
per year. Lead a team of 23 high level Unix and Websphere engineers, security specialists, storage engineers,
database administrators and network engineers. Budget $3.2 million.
- Implemented the installation of a sophisticated secure e-mail system using internet edge, VPN and highly
customized Websphere, UDB and Veritas clustering technologies. Integrated the application into a new
infrastructure and with a multitude of corporate applications. Budget $2.4 million
- Managed a team of 12 Project Managers in separating the American Express and Ameriprise web and midrange
environments for all applications, infrastructure and databases. Crafted an Agile style method on the fly
coordinating with all levels from technicians to business partners to senior executives. Mentored several Project
Managers through the Agile style methodology. Budget $10 million.
IBM/American Express
Principal Project Manager (Contract)
- Led the migration of the American Express Retirement and 401K web portal from a Win-tel based application to
a Unix/Websphere based application. Created the operating infrastructure and managed the integration of the
application. Lead a cross-functional team in the physical cut over to ensure high availability.
- Created several standard practices for the web operations environment. Using an organic process development
process to establish norms, standard time schedules and techniques. These techniques allowed for improvements
in project deliver and cost recovery that resolved long-term quality issues.
- Acted as subject matter expert on development of .project processes, standardized procedures and new Project
Manager training.
US Airways
Senior Project (Temporary)
- Managed the development and implementation of an automated maintenance scheduling system. Win-tel based
client/server application that allowed the maintenance department to automatically schedule and control all
maintenance activities including heavy aircraft
- Implemented research/development methods and practices, structured project management techniques and help
desk/software maintenance operations.

American Express
Director of Outsourced Projects 11/97 to 5/99
- Led a team of 62 FTE in the development of the American Express Global Network Services Clearing and
Settlement clearinghouse function. This system was built using sophisticated tools to allow deployment of
multiple platforms and had a capacity to handle $40 billion worth of credit card transactions daily. It included an
advanced Business Intelligence system using highly engineered data warehouse. Budget $25 million.
- Provided the underlying policies and principles for the development of an organization-wide Project Management

Cara Corporation 2/97 to 11/97
Motorola
- Created a data warehouse/Business Intelligence systems for semi-conductor manufacturing shipping and logistics.
Used various technologies including IMS, DBS, CICS, and IEF.
- Developed an automated customs clearing system to facilitate the flow of shipments from offshore plants to
customers in the US. Used EDI and interacted with multiple outside partners, common carriers, US Customs,
etc.
